About Château Tauzinat: Château Tauzinat l’Hermitage is one of the oldest in Saint Emilion.  The name comes from  “Tauzin” a species of oak trees, famous for the truffles that grow around their feet.  The wines of Tauzinat l’Hermitage have been recognised since the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889 and many other medals have rewarded the excellent work of the Moueix family since that time.

This Tauzinat Cru has belonged to the Carles family since the days of the monarchy (Louis XVI). In 1953, Antoine Moueix set his sights on this emblematic chateau on the Saint Emillion plain. Merlot and Cabernet Franc grow together on nine hectares, producing complex, charming wines.

Vinification: 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc growing on clay-limestone soil.  The vines are about 30 years old.  Harvest is carried out exclusively by hand once the grapes reach full maturity.  The grapes are sorted before going into the vat where a long fermentation allows the optimal extraction of tannins and anthocyanins.  Aged 12 months in oak barrels.

Description: A rising star of Saint Emillion, Château Tauzinat is a racy and supple wine that offers generous black fruit and red fruit aromas with notes of chocolate. The hint of wood is discreet but ensures good structure and aging potential. It is a wine that can be cellared for up to 20 years. Enjoy with characterful dishes with red meats or dishes containing truffle.
